Welcome to www.savesmrs.com.

Folks have noticed that I removed the bulk of the content from this site. I did this for several reasons.

  • As a private individual engaging in public debate, I have natural, broad legal protections of free speech. But on November 14 there was a chance I would be also a director of SMRS. Now, it is absolutely legal for one person to wear those two hats, it's just more complicated and I'm lazy.
  • Part of why I put it up was to inform voters, and that was no longer needed.
  • I had long been the proponent of free and open discussion and debate; yet I did not embrace web-2.0 features which would enable such debate. Mark Dobronski had rightly called me out on my values conflict in this regard, and I apologize for that.

I'm putting it back up because these things have changed.

  • Public debate continues, and it is underinformed by many of the facts. There's more news than ever, more debate than ever, and more bullpucky than ever -- and there needs to be a home for the "just the facts" type documentation.
  • The board election was delayed by the opposition, and doesn't look to be happening anytime soon.
  • To support public debate, I'm going to put the "hot stuff" in a blog. This has the side-effect of putting dates on things, so there can't be any claim that I said a thing as a sitting board member.
  • As always, anti-free-speech ploys will be dealt with harshly. I was a charter member of the EFF, and my campaigning is why Yahoo uses chillingeffects.org.
